Ashanti NPP Caucus Pushes For Investigation Into Fire Outbreaks

The Ashanti Caucus of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has demanded that Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, the interior minister, look into the frequent fire outbreaks in the Ashanti Region and insist on the adoption of all-encompassing measures to stop future occurrences.
They underlined that without a strong response from the government, the area, which is a significant center of the economy, cannot endure more tragedies of this nature.
Their request comes after a terrible fire broke out at Adum, in the center of Kumasi’s Central Business District, on Friday, March 21, destroying numerous stores and properties. Additionally, two people—including a firefighter—were injured in various ways by the fire.
The caucus called for immediate government action to safeguard lives, livelihoods, and investments in the area in a statement issued on March 21 in the midst of the ongoing fire disaster.
Concerns regarding the difficulties the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) faces in responding to fire outbreaks were also voiced by the committee.
They ascribed these difficulties to a shortage of staff, outdated firefighting apparatus, and poor water delivery infrastructure.
Once again, we stand in solidarity with all those affected and assure them of our unwavering support as we push for swift government intervention to address these persistent fire outbreaks.” the statement concluded.
