Bagbin Urges Protection of Ghanaian Family Values
Speaker of Parliament, Alban S. K. Bagbin, reiterates support for the Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill.
Speaking at the 2024 Suma Akwantu Kesie Festival, Mr. Peter Bamfo conveyed Bagbin’s message, praising the bill’s passage as a democratic victory. Bagbin urged traditional leaders to advocate for preserving Ghana’s authentic values. He applauds the Suma Traditional Council for fostering development through the festival.
He additionally commended the Council for launching a social center honoring the late Nana Kwadwo Adinkra, creator of Adinkra symbols.
“The Adinkra Center will be a symbol of hope and opportunity, offering crucial resources for youth training, cultural education, and socio-economic empowerment,” stated Speaker Bagbin.
He also urged the people of Suma to support their leaders in advancing area development.
Alban S.K. Bagbin, born on September 24, 1957, is a prominent Ghanaian politician and lawyer. Hailing from the Upper West Region, he is a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party. Bagbin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law and English from the University of Ghana and a Barrister-at-Law (BL) certificate from the Ghana School of Law. He served as the MP for Nadowli West constituency since 1993, holding various ministerial positions in different governments. In 2021, Bagbin became the Speaker of Parliament, a position in which he upholds democratic principles and ensures the smooth functioning of Ghana’s parliamentary system. His leadership is characterized by a commitment to transparency, accountability, and the promotion of democratic values.
