Bawku Unrest Claims 18 Lives As Dozens Flee
Residents of Bawku are fleeing for their lives amid renewed chieftaincy dispute in the region.
The Bawku community is experiencing another insurgency. Chieftaincy unrest has been reoccurring in the community for years.
The Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) has called for more security personnel in the region. for decades, lots of efforts have been put in place to curb the menace. Authorities are doing everything to solve the reoccurring dispute.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Bawku, Hamza Amadu said MUSEC will do all it can to protect lives and properties. National Peace Council has called on the two families to lay down their weapons.

About 18 people have been confirmed dead so far. People are living in fear following the killings. We are aware of people fleeing the town as a result. The MCE added. But we want to assure residents that we are not sleeping on our jobs. We are doing all we can to protect lives and property.
The Kusasis have been persuaded to revoke their decision to withdraw from the Inter-Ethnic Peace Committee (BIEPC. The ongoing conflict between the Mamprusis and Kusasis in the area has affected lives and properties.
