Bawumia Assures Kantamanto Traders Of His Support, Donates GH¢200,000

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president, has offered his sympathies and GH¢200,000 to help traders who were impacted by the recent fire at Kantamanto Market recover.

Dr. Bawumia visited the market and visited the damaged sections, talking to vendors who had suffered significant losses as a result of the tragic fire. Many shopkeepers were unable to handle the financial burden as a result of the fire destroying their stalls and goods.

Speaking to the victims, Dr. Bawumia expressed his deepest sympathies and gave them the assurance that the government will help with their recuperation.

“We will investigate the incident to ascertain the cause of the fire. Coming here, I have seen that work has commenced and I am happy. With the little help we can offer, we will bring that on board to ensure that the market becomes a befitting one. I know you need a lot of items to put up on the market. We will do well to help you with those.

”When we finish the market, there is something I want to propose. We have to ensure that we establish an internal security. Apart from the internal security, I will ensure that we install CCTV cameras around the market. Even though we are getting out of the office, I will personally ensure that the cameras are brought and installed.”

Dr. Bawumia, accompanied by the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Titus Glover, leaders of the Kantamanto, expressed heartfelt condolences to the affected traders.
