Bawumia is the best to lead us to victory in 2028

We are clear in our minds Bawumia is the best to lead us to victory in 2028 - 15 E/R NPP MPs

The endorsement was announced during the first day of Dr Bawumia’s two-day campaign tour of the region on Wednesday, September 24.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the Achiase MP, Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo, said the former Vice President possessed the right mix of experience, vision and appeal to lead the NPP to victory in 2028. “We are declaring our support because we are clear in our minds that Dr Bawumia is the best candidate to lead us to victory in the 2028 elections,” he stated.

The MPs argued that Dr Bawumia was the most marketable option for the party, citing his record as Vice President and his ability to unite people across divides. “Having been well marketed and having served as Ghana’s most impactful Vice President, he is the best option politically and policy-wise to win us the election,” they stressed.

They also pointed to his character as a key reason for their backing. “He is the candidate who demonstrates the characteristics Ghanaians want in their next leader: humble, effective and embracing all persons. We need a leader who unites and not one who divides,” they added.

On policy, the MPs noted that many initiatives spearheaded by Dr Bawumia, which initially faced scepticism, were now yielding results. They argued that failing to present him as the flagbearer would undermine the party’s progress. “After all the propaganda held against the NPP in 2024, it is becoming clear, day by day, that Bawumia was right in many of the things he proposed. Now is the time that more Ghanaians are warming themselves to these ideas and changing him will be setting ourselves back by another 16 years,” they warned.

The legislators pledged their full commitment to his campaign, assuring that they would mobilise support across the Eastern Region to secure his victory. “We have the commitment and we will work hard for him across the region, and we encourage all party members to be firm and resolute to support his candidature,” they declared.

Dr Bawumia faces competition from other leading figures in the party, including former General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong, former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, Abetifi MP Bryan Acheampong, and former Education Minister Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum.
