After the 2024 general election, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has set off on a pilgrimage to Mecca, the most sacred city in Islam.
Dr. Bawumia claims that the visit is an act of thanksgiving to Allah and a chance to offer prayers for Ghana’s safety and direction.
Alongside Dr. Bawumia were his spouse, Samira Bawumia, former Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, former Youth and Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif, and Tolon Member of Parliament Habib Iddrisu.
The pilgrimage is a manifestation of faith and loyalty to Allah for Muslims worldwide.
