On Wednesday, July 17, 2024, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia officially opened the Ghana Police Shop at the National Police Headquarters.
Vice President Bawumia reiterated the government’s commitment to aiding the Ghana Police Service during the ceremony in Accra.
As part of its attempts to improve police infrastructure, the government is building the Police Shop.
Dr. Bawumia stressed that the store is intended to support efforts to ensure police uniformity rather than take the place of the government’s mandate to provide uniforms.
In addition to the standard issue provided by the Service, officers can purchase simple one-stop shopping products such as office clothes, operating gear, ceremonial wear, boots, and bags from The Police Shop.
Additionally, the shop has an online ordering facility that lets cops submit orders from a distance.
Vice President Bawumia outlined important expenditures that have been made since 2017, such as the supply of automobiles, motorbikes, and homes, as well as the hiring of over 7,000 workers.
The Police Shop was established with the assistance of several organizations and individuals, for which Hon. Henry Quartey, the Minister of the Interior, expressed gratitude.
He stated that the government is dedicated to making sure that peaceful elections are held in December 2024 and giving national security top priority.
Hon. Quartey guaranteed that the Police Service and other security organizations would carry out their responsibilities to uphold law and order in a professional manner at all times.
