AlsoReports indicate that President Akufo-Addo has conferred with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), on his selection of a running mate for the December 7 presidential election.
A meeting was held at the Jubilee House on Tuesday night, according to Elton Brobbey, JoyNews’ correspondent for Presidential Affairs.
Vice President Dr. Bawumia gave the President his selection for a running mate during the meeting.
He clarified that Dr. Bawumia’s decision was ultimately accepted despite President Akufo-Addo sharing his opinions and offering some suggestions.
The chosen candidate, according to him, is a 56-year-old physician who had his studies at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
“..He was elected to the Parliament for the first time in 2008, and he was re-elected in 2012, 2016 and 2020. He was a member of the Parliamentary Health Appointments, Defense, and Interior Committees.
Also he was appointed Education Minister by President Akufo-Addo in 2017, and he is currently the Energy Minister. “Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also referred to as NAPO, is the name,” he stated.
