Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has promised to provide Ghanaian fishermen contemporary solar-powered fishing canoes so they may become less dependent on premix fuel.
During a stakeholder interaction with fishermen and other groups in Mankesim as part of his campaign visit in the Central Region, he made this commitment.
Despite his prior efforts as Vice President to construct premix automation centers, including three in the Mfantseman Constituency alone, Dr. Bawumia acknowledged the difficulties that still arise with premix fuel.
He underlined that the problems with premix reliance must be resolved once and for all.
In order to alleviate the fishing community’s ongoing anxiety over fuel shortages, he said that talks to switch to solar-powered kayaks are already in progress.
Majority Leader in Parliament Alexander Afenyo Markin emphasized the important contributions made by the NPP government to the Central Region, including the building of sea defense projects and landing beaches, in order to bolster Bawumia’s vision.
He pleaded with the voters to consider candidates’ development initiatives over their place of birth.
Additionally, Ophelia Mensah Hayford, the Member of Parliament for Mfantseman, urged the fishermen to vote for both Dr. Bawumia in the next presidential election and her reelection on December 7 by assuring them that he would keep his word.
