As part of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s Kayayei Empowerment Program, bus driving training for Kayayei is set to begin today, Thursday, July 25.
The training will happen in the training facilities owned by Ayalolo.
Dr. Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had earlier this year announced intentions to teach head porters, or “kayayei,” how to drive.
On Tuesday, May 21, during the “Kayayei Empowerment Programme” launch at Madina, this news was made.
At the launch, Dr. Bawumia underlined the importance of this project in giving the kayayei practical skills that can lead to long-term employment and his dedication to providing chances for socially underprivileged groups.
In addition, he stated that talks to teach kayayei driving are still going on with Metro Mass and Ayalolo.
In keeping with this creative idea, the kayayei’s training is scheduled to begin today with the goal of equipping these people with useful skills and enhancing their standard of living.
