Children between the ages of 6 and 14 will enroll in registration nationwide on June 10 and given Ghana Cards, enabling them to receive necessary healthcare.
To make the exercise easier, the National Identification Authority (NIA) and the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) have signed a joint agreement.
The goal of the agreement was to guarantee Ghanaians’ access to national identity documents and comprehensive healthcare coverage under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
The NIA said that in order to make the process easier, registration centers would be available in schools around the country.
The goal of the registration is to improve the children’s access to necessary healthcare services and to make it easier for them to engage in a variety of socioeconomic activities that call for official identification.
During the signing event, Dr. DaCosta Aboagye, the Chief Executive of NHIA, stated that the partnership between NHIA and NIA demonstrated a deliberate endeavor by the government to optimize administrative procedures and broaden the scope of social services.
He reaffirmed his commitment to seeing the registration campaign through to completion and emphasized the importance of the effort in advancing inclusive healthcare and guaranteeing the rights and acknowledgement of Ghana’s youth population.
Professor Kenneth Agyemang Attafuah, the Executive Secretary of the NIA, emphasized the importance of the Ghana card as a vital instrument for identity verification and gaining entry to public services.
It is recommended that parents and guardians take an active role in making sure their children are enrolled to acquire the Ghana card, which will guarantee their access to official identity and necessary healthcare services.
