The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested a second suspect in connection with a string of robberies and murders targeting taxi drivers in the Greater Accra Region, particularly within the Odorkor area.
According to the police, Peter Akakpo, also known as Dompe, an ex-convict, was picked up on October 13, 2025, at Kasoa-Domeabra after weeks of intelligence-led surveillance by the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit (AARU).
The arrest follows the discovery of two murdered taxi drivers at Sakaman Blue Lagoon on May 9 and June 15, 2025.
The incidents triggered intensive investigations by the CID’s specialised team.
According to the police, an earlier suspect, Vincent Gbetorglo, was arrested on June 30, 2025, through intelligence operations.
Investigations later revealed that Gbetorglo had been in contact with Akakpo, whose phone number was linked to both deceased drivers.
In a statement issued on Friday, October 17, 2025, and signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer of the CID, the police said Akakpo was arrested from a room rented by Gbetorglo at Kasoa-Domeabra.
Mr Akakpo is currently in custody assisting with investigations, while efforts are underway to recover the vehicles of the murdered taxi drivers.
The Police said investigations are ongoing and assured the public that further details will be shared as they become available.
