CPP: Napo ‘s Apology Lacks His Signature

Kwame Botsio, the secretary of the Convention People’s Party’s (CPP) Independent Committee, claims to have seen a copy of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s running mate Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s apology letter on the purported denigration of Dr. Nkrumah’s accomplishments.

He explained that although he had not heard Dr. Prempeh apologize in person, the apology had been sent in writing as allowed.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh had stated that not even Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first president of Ghana, had advanced the country as much as President Akufo-Addo.

He said this during his unveiling ceremony in Kumasi on Tuesday.

Following the comments, social media was abuzz, with many people demanding an apology.

“However, this apology letter does not bear the signature or any other signature, so to say we can respond adequately to it will be an exercise in futility,” the CPP official said in a JoyNews interview in response to the apology.

According to Mr. Botsio, the CPP cannot react suitably until a signed statement or a statement from Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh addresses the matter.
