Critics Choice Awards 2025: Complete Winners List

At 2025 Critics Choice Awards, plenty of movies and TV shows—ranging from pop-u-lar blockbusters to streaming smash hits—were honored by the American-Canadian Critics Choice Association.

In the film department, Wicked entered the ceremony with a whopping 11 nominations, including Best Actress for Cynthia Erivo and Best Supporting Actress for Ariana Grande—but it was director Jon M. Chu who took home a trophy for Best Director.

“I will be real with you,” he said onstage. “We get to tell stories for our life. I’d been waiting to not think about algebra or grammar ever again. I just wanted to make movies. I wanted to work with my friends. I wanted to share whatever it is we had in our heads that week, that year, in our childhood.”

Jon added, “I feel very privileged to be here, to be telling the stories to the world with all of you out here.”

Emilia Pérez—which picked up four Golden Globes Jan. 5—tied with Dune: Part Two at 10 nominations a piece, while The Brutalist came into the show with nine nods.

And this year’s Critics Choice Awards was a milestone occasion. Not only was it the star-studded event’s 30th anniversary, but it also marked Chelsea Handler’s third consecutive time hosting.

“Returning for the third year to host the Critics Choice Awards has been made even sweeter knowing it will now air on E!,” the Chelsea Lately alum shared in a statement prior to the ceremony. “I feel like I’m returning to my birthplace.”

And during her opening monologue, Chelsea also made a self-deprecating joke about her three-peat, saying it was her “second-longest relationship.”

“I was the only woman hosting a late night show and now, 11 years later, look how far we’ve come,” she quipped. “In 2025, the easiest way to get a late night talk show as a woman is to have the creators of Hacks write a fictional story about it.”
