Dadieso Residents Block Highway Over Abandoned Gas Tanker
Residents of Dadieso, a community near Kwahu, have taken drastic action by blocking the Accra-Kumasi highway due to their frustration over a gas tanker that has been abandoned along the highway for nearly three days. Despite the evident danger posed by the gas tanker, authorities have not made any efforts to remove it.
Eyewitnesses report that the gas tanker, partially submerged in a bush as seen in a video circulating on social media, has its head detached while still containing gas. Concerned about the potential for an explosion, residents took matters into their own hands and blocked the highway using wooden materials, causing a disruption in traffic flow between Accra and Kumasi.
The blockade serves as a plea to relevant authorities to take immediate action and remove the gas tanker before any harm occurs. The residents hope that their actions will draw attention to the issue and prompt the necessary response from authorities to ensure the safety of everyone traveling along the highway.
To relocate the gas tank securely and avert any possible calamity, the Ghana National Fire Service has been sent to the location.
An eyewitness said that “Dadieso residents have blocked the road.” No vehicle leaving Kumasi and no vehicle arriving at Dadieso, Kwahu side. They alleged that for the previous three days, the fire department had not attempted to retrieve a massive gas cylinder that had fallen off a gas tanker. Additionally, they fear that a gas explosion may occur here. Thus, the path is blocked by them.
