Convicted football star Dani Alves would still be in jail after failing to meet the financial demands of his bail.
His release would require him to release his Spanish and Brazilian passports and prohibited from leaving Spain, on top of posting bail. He cannot go within 1000 metres of the victim nor try to communicate with her in anyway. Dani Alves must also make weekly check-ins at the courthouse.
The FC Barcelona legend did not escape charges of sexual misconduct, followed by a jail sentence of not less than 4 years. The Spanish court ruled the 40-year-old would be conditionally released after serving more than a year of his sentence. The ex-defender earned bail on Wednesday but failed to come up with the sum of $1.08m for his release.
The report adds that Neymar’s father said neither he nor his son would help with Alves’ bail.
