Following an apparent assassination attempt at his Florida golf property, former President Donald Trump is safe, and US authorities have verified that a “potential suspect” is in custody.
According to reports, Secret Service personnel opened fire on him after spotting a rifle barrel sticking through the bushes. It was between 300 and 500 yards distant, according to the FBI.
Subsequently, two backpacks, a GoPro camera, and a gun akin to an AK47 were discovered at the scene.
After the agents shot him many times, the guy fled from some bushes and jumped into a black Nissan car, according to a witness.
A witness took a photo of the vehicle that was later stopped in Martin County, north of the club where Trump was present. In an email to supporters, Trump assured everyone he was “safe and well” and vowed, “Nothing will slow me down. I will never surrender!”
This incident occurred nearly two months after an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a gunman shot Trump in the ear. The Secret Service is investigating the latest “protective incident” involving Trump, which happened around 14:00 EST on Sunday.
The White House confirmed that President Biden and Vice-President Harris had been briefed and were relieved Trump was safe. Harris also posted that she was glad Trump was unharmed, stating, “Violence has no place in America.”
On July 13, during a speech in Butler, Pennsylvania, Trump was shot by Thomas Matthew Crooks, who fired from a nearby rooftop, killing one audience member. Crooks, 20, was shot by a Secret Service sniper. The agency faced criticism for security lapses, leading to the resignation of its director, Kimberly Cheatle, two weeks later.
