Donald Trump Triumphs In Remarkable Return To Power

Donald Trump will make a historic comeback to the White House after winning the US election.

In front of joyful throngs in Florida, the Republican declared: “America has given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate.”

Trump is leading in Michigan, Nevada, and Arizona and has won North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, among the seven pivotal swing states.

Dejected audiences left Kamala Harris’ watch party well before the final results were announced, and she has yet to make concessions or speak to her supporters.

After flipping a number of seats, Republicans have also regained control of the Senate from Democrats.

Donald Trump currently has 279 electoral college votes, according to the most recent and significant forecast from Wisconsin and Alaska.

For those who are unfamiliar with the US electoral system, each state or territory essentially conducts its own election before sending a certain number of electors, typically proportional to its population, to cast ballots in what is known as the electoral college.

There are 538 votes up for grabs throughout the 50 states plus Washington, DC, and the winner is the candidate who receives 270 or more.

In contrast, Kamala Harris has 223 votes after winning New Hampshire, which granted her an additional four votes.
