EC Commences Voter Registration Today
In advance of the 2024 election, the Electoral Commission (EC) will start the voter registration drive today, May 7.
The 27-day registration period is anticipated to conclude at all 268 district offices on May 27.
The purpose of the registration drive is to provide opportunities for Ghanaians who turned 18 since the previous registration in 2020 and those who turned 18 but were unable to register for a variety of reasons.
During a news conference on Monday, Commission Chairperson Jean Adukwei Mensa said that 785 electoral zones had been chosen for voter registration in partnership with political parties.
She states that in order to enroll residents of those campuses in the register, the Commission also plans to perform the registration process at 25 public university campuses.
By the conclusion of the operation, they hope to register 623,000 Ghanaians, she continued.
