Ejisu By-Election: Two EC Officials Allegedly Caught Taking Bribe

Following the release of a video purportedly showing two of its temporary employees accepting what looks to be a bribe at the ongoing Ejisu elections, the Electoral Commission (EC) moved to remove the individuals from their positions.

In the trending video, an anonymous person  during the Ejisu by-election was placing a white packet on the table in front of EC officials.

The commission reiterated its commitment to maintaining integrity, truth, and transparency in a statement released. However, two staff members allegedly involved in receiving a bribe have been suspended pending further investigation into the matter.

The statement reads:

“The Electoral Commission has taken immediate steps and has withdrawn the two (2) temporary staff while investigations take place.

“The commission upholds the principles and values of integrity, truth and transparency. These values are reinforced during the training of all temporary staff.

“The commission will not countenance acts which cast a slur on the integrity of the institutions and will not hesitate to sanction its officials who violate its laws”

The ongoing Ejisu by-elections have captured public attention as voters head to the polls to choose their next representative. With the recent removal of two Electoral Commission officials allegedly involved in bribery, the election process has been under scrutiny. However, despite challenges, the Electoral Commission remains dedicated to upholding the principles of integrity, truth, and transparency throughout the electoral process. As the by-election unfolds, all eyes are on the outcome, which will shape the future representation of Ejisu.
