The new Ashanti Regional Police Commander is DCOP Emmanuel Teye Cudjoe.
He takes the post of DCOP Frank Abrokwa, who was moved by the police administration to the Police Headquarters in Accra.
His inadequate security handling during the Ashanti Regional Council of State election, which took place on Tuesday, February 11 at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) in Kumasi, was the catalyst for his transfer.
The poll, which started out smoothly, descended into chaos when Machomen, who was purportedly from Obuasi and was associated with the NDC, interrupted the ballot sorting process.
He was transferred to Accra because the Ashanti Regional Police Command, which headed the police force tasked with monitoring the election, was unable to control the disorderly situation as predicted.
His transfer letter was sent to him immediately after the incident.
Prior to replacing COP Frank Abrokwa, he was the Central North Regional Commander.
The new Ashanti Regional Police Commander was greeted by Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene, who expressed his excitement for a solid partnership in preserving peace and creating a safe environment for everyone in the region and the nation as a whole.
