Esther Smith reveals the song that earned her a lot of money.

Gospel legend, Esther Smith has revealed that her song “Onyame Boafo” was the one that brought her significant financial success.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday, she said though her song “Gyi No Di,” was a hit, it was “Onyame Boafo” that made her a lot of money.

She recalled that back in the early 2000s, when music was distributed on cassette, her album sold remarkably well.

“In those days, we would print 50,000 copies, and once they sold out, we would make another batch within two weeks because people were buying them in large quantities” she said.

Madam Smith also disclosed a memorable incident in 2002 when someone bought her CD for 200 million cedis at the Kumasi market.

“That person also bought my car and told me that the song had greatly helped him financially. The success of “Onyame Boafo” was not limited to Ghana. “Even in London, the song was selling well, and I earned a lot from it,” she added.

She also noted that cassette sellers were delighted to see her, as they were making good sales from her music.

Esther Smith is set to perform her popular songs, including “Nipa,” “Wanimonyam So,” and “Ma Wonsa,” at an upcoming concert.

Other artists scheduled to perform include Pastor Joe Beecham, OJ, Morris Babyface, and DSP Kofi Sarpong.
