National Democratic Congress (NDC) General Secretary Fifi Kwetey has strongly warned that electoral frauds and malpractices will not go unpunished.
After the expected handover of power on January 7, Mr. Kwetey signaled accountability by warning those implicated in election irregularities in a brief tweet posted on X (previously Twitter).
“Electoral crimes have no expiry date. After January 7, the time of reckoning will come,” the post read., the statement stated.
In the midst of the ongoing recall process for nine contested constituencies, Mr. Kwetey made this statement.
At its regional headquarters in Accra, the Electoral Commission (EC) has started to recollect the results for these seats.
Thus far, the EC has successfully declared results in seven constituencies, all in favor of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). These constituencies are:
- Ahafo Ano North
- Techiman South
- Ahafo Ano South West
- Nsawam Adoagyiri
- Obuasi East
- Okaikwei Central
- Tema Central
According to Kwetey’s comments, the NDC intends to continue its efforts beyond the immediate post-election period in order to seek justice for what it believes to be electoral malpractices.
