Fire Consumes Dormitory at Ahantaman Girls SHS

One of the dormitory blocks for the Ahantaman Girls Senior High School in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis has been completely damaged by fire.

On Wednesday, July 17, after all of the pupils had left for their individual lessons, a fire broke out.

All of the possessions of five of the pupils were burned.

Charles Mintaba, the school’s PTA chairman, verified the occurrence and stated that an electrical malfunction was thought to be the source of the fire.

He said, “Trunks, beds, bed sheets, provisions, books, and other belongings of students amounting to thousands of Ghana Cedis have been completely burnt”.

He indicated that the Ghana Fire Service personnel from Sekondi quickly rushed to the scene to douse the fire.

“It will be difficult for their parents to replace the burnt items immediately. We are, therefore, calling on organisations, philanthropists and other individuals to come to the aid of the school and the students,” he pointed out.
