Agbogbloshie in the Greater Accra Region has seen the destruction of multiple wooden structures and their contents due to a strong fire.
On Sunday, November 24, 2024, at around 9:38 p.m., the fire started.
The first of two fire pumps sent from the Accra City and Circle Fire Stations arrived at the area at 9:48 p.m., according to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
Several improvised wooden constructions had already been consumed by the fire, which was fast spreading in all directions.
The tactical squad managed to contain the fire at 12:54 am on Monday and completely put it out at 1:38 am, despite difficult access to the fire’s seat.
Firefighters were able to save a number of nearby properties, however many wooden buildings and their contents were destroyed.
According to GNFS, no injuries and casualties were recorded.
