Five Sentenced For Drug Crimes By Tamale Circuit Court

The Tamale Circuit Court has convicted five people for a variety of drug-related offenses, such as the unlawful distribution, sale, and possession of narcotic and banned substances.
During a police patrol in Tamale on March 5, 2025, the defendants—who were named as Iddrisu Fidaws, Alhassan Wumpini, Bassit Iddrisu, Alhassan Adam, and Haruna Mohammed Sadais—were taken into custody.
They were discovered to have cannabis, rohypnol, and tramadol.
The court imposed different punishments after examining the evidence and taking into account the admissions made by the accused.
In addition to being found guilty on four counts, Iddrisu Fidaws was fined GH₵90,000.00 on two of them (which translates to 15 years in prison in default) and GH₵7,200.00 on the other two (which translates to 10 years in prison in default).
Four charges were brought against Alhassan Wumpini, who was fined GH₵90,000.00 on two of them (or ten years in prison in default) and GH₵10,800.00 on the other two.
Bassit Iddrisu was found guilty on two charges and fined GH₵19,200.00 for each count, which translates to six years in prison if he doesn’t pay.
After being found guilty on three counts, Alhassan Adam was fined GH₵90,000.00 on one count (which translates to 15 years in prison in default), GH₵10,800.00 on another count (which translates to 10 years in prison in default), and an undisclosed amount on the third count.
After being found guilty on two charges, Haruna Mohammed Sadais was fined GH₵99,996.00 on one count (which translates to 17 years in prison in default) and GH₵84,000.00 on the second count (which translates to 10 years in prison in default).
Following their inability to settle the fines, the convicts have been placed in prison custody.
