Foreign Ministry Advises Against Travels To Northern Mali
Ghanaians are advised not to visit certain areas of Northern Mali, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
The Ministry mentioned recent security issues along important routes between Mali and Niger, especially the Gao and Ansongo Regions in Northern Mali, in an official statement.
The Ministry highlighted instances where terrorists specifically targeted individuals traveling along specific routes. They underscored the gravity of such threats, emphasizing the need for heightened awareness and caution among travelers traversing these areas.
The statement said, “The Ministry remains committed to Ghanaians’ safety and will provide updates on the security situation in the region under reference in due course.”
The Foreign Affairs Ministry emphasized the importance of prioritizing safety during travel and urged the general public to heed this advice. They stressed the need for travelers to remain vigilant and cautious, especially in regions where security concerns are prevalent.
