Former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Freddie Blay, has given North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, TV3, and Johnnie Hughes one week to retract allegations against him and his family.
Blay, also the GNPC Board Chair, denies claims of his family’s involvement in state capture, stating that his children legally acquired beachfront property from the LA Council, not from Labadi Beach Hotel management.
He accuses Ablakwa of spreading cheap propaganda to tarnish his family’s reputation. Ablakwa has alleged a state capture scheme by top NPP officials.
NDC legislator Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa accused former NPP Chairman Freddie Blay and his sons of acquiring part of the beachfront managed by Labadi Beach Hotel.
Ablakwa claimed that due to this purchase, Labadi Beach Hotel is the only beachfront hotel in the world without exclusive control over its entire beachfront.
In response, Blay explained that his sons initially discussed the purchase with the hotel’s management, but negotiations fell through. Consequently, his sons acquired the beachfront from the La Traditional Council for their operations.
Mr. Blay characterized his sons’ interest in the property as legitimate and questioned why the hotel had not filed a lawsuit to contest his kids’ ownership claim.
Mr Blay told Oyerepa FM:
“If the hotel considers that somebody has taken its lands, the courts are there, they should go to court. I have seen correspondence that tried to negotiate for them to work together but it never worked – so nobody has taken anybody’s land definitely not my children, they are not involved in any state capture,”
d “Impression being made by Okudzeto Ablakwa and unfortunately by some pressmen by Johnnie Hughes and tv3 management making Ghanaians know that those doing legitimate business without stepping on anybody’s shoes is an illegality, is unfortunate.”
On the other hand, Mr. Blay gave TV3 host Johnnie Hughes and North Tongu MP Johnnie Hughes a week to apologize for the allegations of state capture.
