Fuel prices to increase from July 1 – COMAC projects 2% rise in petrol, 5% in diesel

Consumers should brace for a potential hike in fuel prices at the pumps beginning July 1, 2025, according to projections by the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC).
In its latest forecast, COMAC anticipates a 2% increase in the price of petrol and a 5% rise in diesel prices. Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is also expected to see a marginal increase of about 1%. This will mark the first upward adjustment in fuel prices since February 2025.
Addressing the media in Accra, COMAC Chief Executive Dr. Riverson Oppong stated that the anticipated increases come even in the absence of the implementation of the amended Energy Sector Levy, which has been suspended.
“Even before the amended Energy Sector Levy comes into force, our projections indicate that pump prices are likely to go up,” he said. “Petrol is expected to rise by 2 percent, LPG by just over 1 percent, and diesel by as much as 5 percent. These figures are based on current indicators, including the NPA’s price build-up structure.”
Dr. Oppong further called for a comprehensive review of the regulatory framework governing the petroleum downstream sector to ensure more cost-effective operations.
The expected increases come amid global market fluctuations and currency exchange pressures that continue to impact fuel pricing locally.
