GaDangme Council Speaks Out Against Attack On Electrochem Ghana
The recent attacks on the Ada location of Electrochem Ghana Ltd., a McDan Group company, have been denounced by the GaDangme Council.
The Council claims that the incident, which included the company’s warehouse and bungalows being invaded, followed by theft and damage, is not only illegal but also harmful to the advancement and development of the impacted neighborhoods.
The GaDangme Council, in a statement issued by its president, J. Ayikoi Otoo, voiced grave worry about what it called a hooliganism by certain angry young people.
To guarantee that the offenders are held accountable, the Council emphasized the necessity of an expeditious and comprehensive investigation by the pertinent security services.
They highlighted that such decisive action would serve as a deterrent to others who may contemplate similar unlawful acts in the future.
The GaDangme Council also took the opportunity to underscore the significant role that Electrochem Ghana Ltd. plays in the local and national economy.
“The GaDangme Council recognizes the significant role that Electrochem Ghana Ltd. plays in the economy of Ghana as well as the socio-economic development of Ada and the surrounding communities, particularly in providing jobs and fostering growth.
“Such attacks undermine the company’s ability to continue its operations and jeopardise the livelihoods of many,” parts of the statement read.
The Council also appealed to all members of the community to recognise the long-term consequences of such actions and to work collectively toward peace and stability and urged members to exercise restraint and avoid retaliatory actions that could escalate tensions.
