Gideon Mensah and Elisha Owusu, two Black Stars, will play in the French Ligue 1 2024–2025 season after assisting AJ Auxerre in being promoted from Ligue 2 to the top league.

After defeating Paris Football Club 2-0, with goals from Lassine Sinayoko in the 22nd minute and Ado Onaiwu in the 57th, Auxerre’s place in the Ligue 1 competition for the next season was assured.

With two games remaining in the season, Auxerre’s six-point advantage atop the Ligue 2 rankings remains maintained after their victory against Paris FC.

Auxerre’s final two matches of the season are against Concarneau on Friday, May 17, and Amiens SC on Friday, May 10.

After being demoted from the league the previous season, Auxerre quickly qualified to return to Ligue 1 thanks in large part to the efforts of the two Ghanaians.

Gideon Mensah, a fullback/wingback, participated in 24 league games and had two assists, while Owusu participated in 32 league games and recorded a goal and two assists.
