GHS Detects Monkey Pox, 230 Suspected Cases In 88 Districts.

A case of monkeypox has been confirmed by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in the Western North Region’s Bia West District.

The affected subject is a 15-year-old male who visited a district government hospital on September 25, 2024, with symptoms that included a three-day history of fever, body aches, sore throat, and a rash that initially emerged on his palms and face.

The GHS issued a warning in the public stating that 230 more suspected cases had been detected in 88 districts countrywide.

Twenty-five people who interacted with the patient have been recognized by the authorities, and they are being closely watched at this time.

As part of its ongoing response efforts, the GHS aims to alert the World Health Organization (WHO) and is undertaking a preliminary public health investigation about the verified case.

To stop the virus from spreading, the public is asked to stay watchful and follow health precautions.
