Government Begins Fixing Big Roads In Ejisu Ahead Of By-Election

The government has initiated the repair of major roads in Ejisu Municipality. They are committed to completing these projects to improve the roads in the area.

Francis Asenso Boakye, the Minister of Roads and Highways, visited the ongoing projects in Ejisu with officials from the Ministry. During the inspection on Thursday, April 18, he dismissed claims that the projects were only happening because of the upcoming by-election in the area. Boakye emphasized the government’s dedication to improving infrastructure and denied any political motive behind the road rehabilitation efforts.

The government’s decision to rehabilitate the roads in Ejisu is aimed at enhancing transportation and infrastructure in the municipality. Despite the upcoming by-election, officials assert that the road projects are part of the government’s broader commitment to improving the country’s infrastructure and ensuring better living conditions for citizens.

The Ministry explained that the government is working on around 32 road projects in Ejisu Constituency. These projects involve the Urban, Feeder, and Highway Departments.

The Minister mentioned that the contracts were given out in the last three months when the late Member of Parliament for Ejisu, John Ampontuah Kumah, was still here. He wants to make it clear that the projects aren’t just because there’s a by-election coming up.

“Currently, about 32 projects are going on in the Ejisu municipality, these projects include urban roads, Ghana Highway authority, and Feeder roads projects. I’m satisfied with the work going on, the contractors are some of the best we have.

“I’m confident they will continue to work very hard so that we can complete the project as scheduled. None of these projects was awarded in the last three months. These are not by-election projects, the past three years some of the projects have been going on. The MP who passed on was instrumental in making sure that these projects are designed and constructed. Rest assured; these are not by-election projects; these are normal projects the ministry is implementing.”
