Government Launches Investigation Into 12,000 Last Minutes Appointments Under Akufo-Addo
The government is looking into the hiring of almost 12,000 people into the public sector by the former Akufo-Addo administration after the general elections in 2024

The government is looking into the hiring of almost 12,000 people into the public sector by the former Akufo-Addo administration after the general elections in 2024, according to Minister for Employment, Jobs, and Labour Relations Rashid Pelpuo.
Concerns over the legitimacy and reasons behind the appointments were raised when Dr. Pelpuo disclosed in an appearance on Channel One TV that the mass recruiting occurred just a week or two after the previous government’s election defeat.
Dr. Pelpuo clarified that in order to ensure openness and equity in the process, President John Dramani Mahama established a committee to look into allegations of wrongful terminations among the recently hired people.
We’re investigating the timing, processes, and possible political motivations behind these appointments. We will have the results soon,” he stated.
The committee, co-chaired by Dr. Pelpuo, is expected to determine whether proper procedures were followed and make recommendations for addressing any issues arising from the appointments.
