Government To Extradite Ex-MASLOC Boss From U.S. For Jail Sentence
The government is actively seeking the extradition of Sedinam Tamakloe Attionu, the former CEO of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), who is currently residing in the United States, according to Alfred Tuah-Yeboah, the Deputy Attorney General and Minister for Justice.
Ms. Attionu is attempting to get justice in Ghana after being found guilty of stealing, violating procurement laws, and costing the government GH¢90 million. The Accra High Court sentenced her to 10 years in prison in April 2024.
Mr. Tuah-Yeboah claims that in order to make her homecoming easier, the government is collaborating closely with American officials.
He went on to say that the government is awaiting the filing of the required paperwork in American courts to guarantee Attionu’s return.
Along with Daniel Axim, the former MASLOC Operations Manager, Ms. Attionu was charged in January 2019 on 78 charges of theft, money laundering, and creating financial loss.
