Gov’t announces major data bundle increases across all networks starting July 1

The Minister for Communications, Samuel George, has announced significant increases in data bundle allocations across all telecommunication networks in Ghana, effective July 1, 2025.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra, the Minister revealed that the new measures follow successful negotiations with telecom operators aimed at improving digital access and offering greater value for money to consumers.

 

“I am pleased to announce that my engagement with the CEOs has resulted in the following specific measures,” Mr. George stated.

 

 

 

Key Adjustments by Network:

 

1. AirtelTigo Ghana (AT Ghana):

 

10% increase on all data bundles

 

GH₵400 bundle upgraded from 195GB to 236GB

 

 

2. Telecel Ghana:

 

10% increase on all data bundles

 

GH₵400 bundle increased from 90GB to 250GB

 

 

3. MTN Ghana:

 

15% increase on all data bundles

 

Restoration of GH₵399 bundle offering 214GB (previously changed to GH₵350 for 92.88GB)

 

 

Mr. George acknowledged the financial implications for network operators, stating:

 

“I am aware these increases will come at considerable cost to the network operators. However, I am glad that our engagements and consultations are bearing fruit for the Ghanaian people.”

 

 

 

He also commended the telecom CEOs for their cooperation, emphasizing that the development marks a strengthened partnership between the government and the telecommunications industry.

 

These adjustments are part of broader efforts to enhance digital inclusion and promote affordability in Ghana’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.
