Hajia Safia Mohammed Steps Down As School Feeding Programme Coordinator

As of February 24, 2025, Hajia Safia Mohammed has formally stepped down from her role as the Ghana School Feeding Program (GSFP) National Coordinator.

Through the Chief Director of the Ministry, she sent her letter of resignation, dated February 12, 2025, to the Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection (MoGCSP).

A portion of the letter read: “I write to officially notify your esteemed office of my resignation as the National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme, effective 24th February 2025. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had while serving in this role, and I take pride in the accomplishments and progress made by our team during my tenure.”

“However, I have decided to pursue new opportunities, which necessitates my resignation.” She said.

Thank you all for the remarkable working relationship, and I hope the Programme continues to build upon the success and structures we have established in order to achieve the shared objectives of the GSFP” she lamented.

Former President Nana Akufo-Addo named Hajia Safia Mohammed the National Coordinator of GSFP in 2023 to replace the late Mrs. Gertrude Quashigah. Mohammed is currently the Deputy National Women’s Organiser of the NPP.

Over four million children in underprivileged public basic schools nationwide currently receive meals thanks to the social intervention program, which Hajia Safia has fought tirelessly to maintain and improve since taking office.

In order to guarantee that caterers receive their arrears on time, she has successfully implemented a new payment system and streamlined the GSFP’s operations.

The regular protests, rallies, and statewide strikes by the GSFP caterers have been thankfully curbed or discontinued as a result of this.
