Government Moves To Cancel Sale Of Ghana’s Diplomatic Estates In Nigeria, Zambia

The government has declared that two contentious deals to sell Ghanaian diplomatic properties in Nigeria and Zambia that were started by the former Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration have been canceled.
During a parliamentary session, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa announced the decision, which was supported by President Mahama.
On Saturday, March 29, Minister Ablakwa emphasized the government’s dedication to protecting Ghana’s diplomatic assets in a message posted on his official Facebook page.
The minister disclosed that efforts are underway to recover an illegal part payment made in one of the transactions.
He assured the public that the masterminds behind the scheme, who are currently on the run, would be located and sanctioned.
“The principles of ORAL, strict abhorrence for State Capture, and the national interest shall continue to guide our decisions,” he added.
Minister Ablakwa also issued a stern warning, stating that none of Ghana’s diplomatic properties—whether within the country or across its 71 diplomatic missions abroad—are available for sale.
“Notice is hereby served: hands off!” he asserted.
