I Feel Bad For Ghanaians, These Are Risky Times: Franklin Cudjoe
Amidst the present issues in the energy industry, Franklin Cudjoe, the CEO of IMANI Africa, has voiced worry for the people of Ghana.
Ghanaians are dealing with higher gasoline expenses in addition to erratic electricity supplies.
On April 16, 2024, various Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) increased fuel prices, corresponding to the second pricing window of the month.
According to a poll done by Citi News at many OMC locations, gasoline costs have significantly increased. For example, during the current pricing window, Goil, a government-owned company, increased the price of gasoline from GH˼14.15 to GH̼14.99 per liter, while the price of diesel increased from GH̼14.74 to GH̼14.80 per liter.
Commuters in Lapaz and other regions of the nation are also seeing a 20% hike in transportation rates, which defies a government and Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) mandate to drivers not to raise fares.
Mr Cudjoe sympathized with Ghanaians during his participation on The Big Issue on Citi TV and Citi FM on Saturday, expressing his desire for a quick resolution to the difficulties.
“We are in perilous times really and I really pity the Ghanaian. I was listening to the vox pop in the run up to the programme and people were complaining and you could see these are deep-seated concerns…So it is sad, I just wish there was a magic wand to deal with this matter,” he said.
