Interior Ministry Reimposes Curfew In Bawku

The Upper East Region’s Bawku Municipality and the surrounding districts are under a curfew that has been extended by the Minister of the Interior through Executive Instrument.
The new curfew will be in place from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. on Monday, February 17, 2025.
The government also declared a complete prohibition on carrying guns, ammo, or any offensive weapons in Bawku and the surrounding area in a statement signed by Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak and released on Monday.
The message threatened to arrest and prosecute anyone found in possession of such items.
In order to achieve long-term peace in the region, the government asked chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, young people, and locals to maintain composure and settle disputes peacefully.
Meanwhile, on February 15, the Ministry of Interior imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in Walewale and its surrounding communities in the North East Region following a series of violent attacks and killings along the Bolgatanga-Tamale highway.
The directive, signed by Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, took effect on Saturday, February 15, 2025, and is enforced daily from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
