Is Better To Have Leader Who Begs For Votes Than One Who Can’t Explain The Death Of Atta Mills – Wontumi Jabs Mahama

The Ashanti regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has responded to comments by Mr. John Mahama that President Akufo-Addo begged Ghanaians for his position but has failed.

The NPP Chairman in an interview with Wontumi TV, stated that the statements by the former President were wrong considering that “it is better to have a leader who begs to elected than one who can’t explain to Ghanaians the bizarre circumstance under which his former boss died for him to be President of Ghana”.

His comments were a direct dig at former President John Mahama and the questions that have been asked about how the late former President John Evans Mills died as a sitting president.

John Mahama, on a tour of the Bono Region, told delegates in Kintampo North that Ghanaians could no longer afford a try-and-error leadership but instead are in need of an experienced leader who has what it takes, in terms of the track record and competence.

“Someone begged us to try him and see. We believed him and gave him a chance, but look where we are now.

“He has ruined the economy. Ghanaians are struggling, and the hardship we are facing is unprecedented. We have not seen anything like this in our political history since Kwame Nkrumah’s time,” John Mahama is quoted to have said during his tour.
Mahama; former Finance Minister Dr Kwabena Duffuor; former Kumasi Mayor Kojo Bonsu; and businessman Ernest Kwabena Kobeah are expected to compete in the NDC flagbearership election scheduled for May 13, 2023.
