Devolution Conference in Kenya: Jospong Group showcases waste management innovations

Ghana’s sanitation and waste management giant, Jospong Group of Companies (JGC), has taken its innovative waste treatment and green solutions to Kenya in a major expansion drive into Eastern Africa.
The private entity is currently showcasing its solutions across the waste management value chain at the Devolution Conference (DevCon), Kenya’s largest biennial gathering that provides a platform for exploring key interventions for addressing national development challenges.
DevCon 2025, which is being attended by over 12,000 delegates, is on the theme: “For the people; for prosperity: devolution as a catalyst for equity, inclusion and social justice.”
With the sub-theme: “Re-engineering county governments to accelerate development and close the socio-economic divide,” the conference focuses on shaping subnational policy dialogue, showcasing innovations, and fostering strategic partnerships.
The platform has brought together government officials, development partners, the private sector, civil society, and international stakeholders.
The JGC is participating in DevCon 2025 as a platinum partner at the invitation of the Council of Governors, who regard the group’s operations as aligning with the conference’s objectives.
“Your innovative leadership in waste management and sanitation strongly aligns with the conference’s thematic focus, especially in environmental sustainability and urban resilience,” the invitation letter to the Executive Chairman of JGC, Mr Joseph Siaw Agyepong, stated.
The letter added that the JGC’s participation in the conference “will present valuable opportunities to share best practices, and engage with key decision-makers on building sustainable waste solutions in Kenya’s counties.

The conference will officially open today with Kenyan President William Ruto delivering the opening address at Homa Bay County.
Ahead of the official opening, the JGC has mounted a pavilion to showcase its green and innovative solutions in sanitation and waste management.
Among the innovations are solid and liquid waste treatment, conversion of plastic waste into pellets, and turning organic waste into compost.
Also on display at the JGC pavilion are technologies for dredging or desilting of waste, managing waste data, and revenue mobilisation.
Key highlights
Mr Agyepong will deliver a speech at the opening session of the DevCon, touching on the need to deploy climate-resilient and green solutions to tackle sanitation and environmental challenges across Africa.
