Judge Orders Retrial After Jury Acquits ‘Sexy Don Don’ in JB Danquah Murder Case

The prime suspect in the murder of Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu, the late Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, has been acquitted.

In a 4-3 split decision delivered by a seven-member jury on Wednesday, December 4, the presiding judge discharged the jury in line with Section 285(4) of the Criminal and Other Offenses (Procedure) Act, 1960 (Act 30). The court ruled that the verdict did not meet the threshold for further legal proceedings.

Daniel Asiedu, also known as “Sexy Don Don,” had faced charges of robbery and the killing of the late MP. Despite his acquittal on the charges, he remains in custody.
