KATH Receives 3 New Dialysis Machines

The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi received three new dialysis machines from Nivaansh MediQas Ghana Limited, increasing the Dialysis Unit’s total to five. KATH is expanding its unit to meet the growing number of kidney patients.

Vishal Kaul, Managing Director of Nivaansh MediQas, said the company will monitor the machines, provide a two-year warranty, and offer training for technicians and specialists.

Kwadwo Tuffour, Head of the Dialysis Unit at KATH, said they have been managing a large number of patients with just two machines. He hopes the new machines will ease the pressure and allow them to treat more patients. Agyemang Duah, Head of the Biomedical Department at KATH, mentioned it was frustrating to see patients in need of care but unable to help due to a lack of equipment.

“I want to use this opportunity to thank the CEO and management for purchasing these three brand new dialysis machines for us to attend to pressing and urgent cases that come to KATH and to our department,”

The MD of Vinaash MediQas Ghana Limited was thanked by Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah, CEO of KATH, for delivering the dialysis machines to the hospital. He claimed that the patients who regularly flocked to the clinic for care would experience a great deal of relief.

“KATH is grateful to you for delivering these machines and for you to commit to train and equip our in-house staff with the necessary skills to handle the equipment shows your concern and care for human lives and we believe we can work together to retool the Dialysis Unit to appropriate levels,”
