Ken Kuranchie Sues Special Prosecutor To The Supreme Court
Kenneth Kuranchie, a former NPP member, has filed a writ in the Supreme Court against Kissi Agyebeng, the Special Prosecutor.
The independent parliamentary candidate for 2024 is attempting to have the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) established and its authority ruled illegal.
This includes the OSP’s allegedly oppressive powers of arrest, detention, freeze, and seizure.
Furthermore, it aims to directly subordinate the Attorney General to the OSP’s prosecution authority, akin to the National Investigation Bureau (NIB), Police, and Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO).
In a petition, former Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu demanded the dismissal of Mr. Agyebeng.
Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonoo, however, rejected the plea on Friday, July 5, finding it to be unfounded and meritless.
