Ghanaians requesting to go to Kenya will now receive a free Electronic go Authorization (ETA), according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
This effort recognizes Ghana and Kenya’s current agreement to a visa-free travel regime.
The Ministry urged Ghanaians planning to visit Kenya to submit their ETA application on almetakenya.go.ke for approval prior to departure in a statement released on Wednesday, June 19.
When making travel plans to Kenya, Ghanaians were cautioned by the Ministry to consider this recent development.
According to the statement:
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration wishes to inform the public that the Republic of Kenya in recognition of the existing visa-free regime agreement between the Republic of Kenya and the Republic of Ghana has informed that Ghanaian travellers will now be issued an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) on gratis upon application Ibr travel to Kenya.
“In that regard, Ghanaians intending to travel to Kenya are to submit their ETA application through almetakenya.go.ke for approval prior to their departure. The travelling public is hereby advised to take note of this new development accordingly.”
The formal authorization document for entry into Kenya, known as the ETA, is now freely available. The new regulation does away with the necessity that travelers pay a charge for this document.
