
The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is mourning the loss of one of its students after a tragic incident on campus.
According to an official statement from the university, KNUST Security Services received a report around 5:00 a.m. regarding the discovery of a lifeless body near the KNUST Disability and Rehabilitation Centre. The body was immediately transported to the University Health Services, where she was confirmed dead.
The deceased has been identified as Miss Joana Deladem Yabani, a fourth-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. The university has informed her family and extended its condolences during this difficult time.
Investigation Underway
A full-scale investigation is currently being conducted in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), KNUST Internal Security, and the University Health Services. Authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
KNUST Management has assured students, staff, and the general public of its commitment to campus safety. The university urged everyone to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and respect the privacy of the grieving family.
“We are fully committed to ensuring that all necessary measures are taken to ascertain the facts,” the statement read.
