Kofi Adoma’s Wife breaks silence on husband’s ordeal at Dormaahene’s traditional event —Kofi has temporarily lost an eye

Miracle Adomah, wife of seasoned Ghanaian journalist Kofi Adoma Nwanwani, has shared a detailed account of the harrowing incident that left her husband with serious eye injuries during a traditional event in Dormaa.

Speaking to the media, Miracle recounted that the tragedy occurred when Kofi Adoma and his team were invited to cover a traditional ceremony organized by Dormaahene. Upon their arrival, the group was led by Dormaahene’s niece, Linda, to a hotel where they were accommodated.

The next day, while covering the event, an incident involving a traditional gunshot meant to be fired into the sky turned catastrophic. The gun discharged into the crowd, striking Kofi Adoma in the face. The journalist sustained severe injuries, with his camera also destroyed in the process.

According to Miracle, her husband was rushed to a hospital in Sunyani, where his wounds were cleaned, and his eyes were flushed 20 times before being transferred back to Accra. Despite the doctors’ efforts, Kofi initially lost vision in one eye, which later worsened, leaving him temporarily blind in both eyes.

Seeking advanced medical care, the family explored treatment options in the UK and Dubai. Due to financial constraints, they opted for Dubai, where surgery restored partial vision in one eye. Kofi Adoma is now back in Ghana but is preparing for further treatment to regain full eyesight.

Miracle expressed disappointment that Dormaahene has yet to reach out to the family regarding the incident. She explained their decision to remain silent initially, stating, “We didn’t bring the news out because we didn’t want to spoil their traditional event at that time, so we kept it to ourselves.”

She assured the public that the family has evidence, including videos and photos, of the incident, which they plan to release at the appropriate time. Miracle also clarified that the injuries were not caused by any targeted attack or armed individuals but were purely accidental.

Concluding her statement, Miracle thanked Ghanaians for their prayers and support, urging them to continue praying for her husband’s full recovery.
