Kokrobite Man Sentenced To Life For Killing Wife And Daughter
The High Court in Accra found 47-year-old Burkinabe Boigouna Aloys guilty of killing his German wife and their daughter in Kokrobite, Accra, and sentenced him to life in prison.
After a lengthy trial, a seven-member jury unanimously found him guilty on two charges of murder, leading to his conviction.
According to reports, the convicted struck his late wife, Claudia Weizmann, 53, in the head with a hammer. He then strangled their 14-year-old daughter to death out of fear that she would tell the authorities about the incident.
To support its claims, the prosecution, under the direction of Assistant State Attorney Yvonne Yaachie-Adomako, called five witnesses.
Aloys said he had nothing to say when Justice Mary Maame Ekue Yanzuh, the presiding judge, asked him if he had anything to say before to his sentencing.
Police claim that in order to allay suspicions, Boigouna Aloys, 43 at the time of the occurrence, buried the two remains at the far end of their 10-plot Kokrobite property.
The German woman and her daughter vanished out of sight, and the neighbors smelled a horrible animal-like stench emanating from the property. Aloys was arrested after they informed the police about the situation.
The Burkinabe was suspected of killing his wife and daughter after police investigations showed that the stink was from human remains.
“The suspect has since confessed to the crime,” the police stated, adding that following a misunderstanding, he struck his wife in the head with a hammer, instantly killing her. He killed the 14-year-old girl by strangulation before burying them on their compound out of fear that his daughter would call the police.
After being married in Germany, Boigouna Aloys and his spouse made the decision to move to Ghana. According to reports, the family had been residing in a three-bedroom flat on a 10-plot property in Kokrobite since they arrived in the country in January 2020.
