Kufuor and Akufo-Addo’s legacy will outlive generations

Bawumia: Kufuor and Akufo-Addo’s legacy will outlive generations

Former Vice President and 2024 New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has lauded the enduring legacies of former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, describing their leadership as “monumental and transformational.”

Speaking at the 2025 NPP National Delegates Conference in Accra today, Dr. Bawumia said the achievements of the two NPP leaders in governance remain unmatched and will be remembered for generations.

“In governance, there are ups and downs,” he acknowledged. “Through the President J.A. Kufuor and President Nana Akufo-Addo periods, we succeeded at many things with monumental and transformational achievements.”

He added with confidence: “Their achievements will stand the test of time.”

Dr. Bawumia’s remarks appeared aimed at consolidating party unity and pride following the NPP’s loss in the 2024 general elections, with many members reflecting on the party’s legacy in government. He urged party faithful not to shy away from the record of their past leaders, but to embrace and celebrate their contributions to national development.

Dr. Bawumia stressed that while challenges have existed under both administrations—as with any in the world—the scale and impact of their achievements cannot be denied. He urged the party to continue building on that legacy and remain resolute in its values as it reorganises for the future.
